Organic Foods
Organic foods are minimally processed foods that must meet certain requirements in order to be physically labeled organic. They must not be produced with pesticides, false fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, and quite a few other unnatural products or methods. Animals that are used for meat, poultry, eggs, and diary products are prohibited from taking antibiotics and being injected with growth hormones.
Organic foods are considered to be the opposite of genetically altered foods, and this is where much of the debate between the two takes place. Those who are opposed to GMOs have three primary goals: to prevent organic farmers from planting GMO seeds, to prevent cross-pollination, and to ban the use of GMOs all together. On the other hand, those who support the spread and advancement of GMOs promote the using of organic practices when planting GMO crops. These two groups of people disagree with the views of each other, and in the future hope to settle this ongoing dispute.
