The Labeling Initiative in the United States
|
In State legislatures all across the United States, there have been bill proposals that have been tried (few passed, most defeated) in order to mandate the labeling of foods that are genetically modified or contain genetically altered ingredients. However, the following states have not submitted or tried any bills to enact GMO labeling requirements: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
To the left is the link to a chart containing bill numbers, bill titles, the states the bills were tried in, and whether they were passed or defeated. This chart, however, doesn't contain every bill relating to the subject. |
